Gugu Mthembu

Gugu Mthembu is Chief Marketing Officer of Telkom. An award-winning marketing professional with over two decades of experience, she has built teams and brands predominantly in the telecommunications sector, following a fruitful earlier career as an IT professional.

Gugu has held senior marketing leadership roles across some of South Africa’s most prominent organisations, including MTN, Vodacom, Virgin Mobile and Telkom, bringing a results-driven approach to brand building and market growth at each stage.

Beyond her corporate roles, she has lent her leadership skills to organisations including the African Community Fund for Education (ACFE), an NGO focused on making education more accessible, while also serving as a board director for eTopUp, a subsidiary of MTN in Swaziland.

She is passionate about creating opportunities for developing talent and building iconic brands.
