Geoff Whyte is Group CEO and Executive Director of the ADvTECH Group, Africa’s leading private education and recruitment group.

Born and educated in Scotland, Geoff holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Aberdeen. His career spans more than 30 years across some of the world’s leading consumer organisations, with a geographic footprint covering South Africa, the UK, Europe, the United States, the Middle East and sub-continental India.

He began his career with Exxon Mobil in London before spending seven years with PepsiCo, including roles as Marketing Director for KFC and Pizza Hut Southern Africa and European Business Development Director. He joined Unilever as Managing Director of their UK Foodservice business, before being promoted to European Foodservice Category Director, based in the Netherlands.

Geoff then joined SAB-Miller, working on marketing strategy across South Africa and the United States, before taking on responsibility for SAB’s major South African brands. He subsequently became Group Marketing Director for Cadbury Schweppes Southern Africa, during which time he was voted South African Marketing Person of the Year by the Sunday Times. He was promoted to Commercial Director for Cadbury’s Africa and Middle East region, before joining AVI as Managing Director of their biscuits and snacks business.

In 2013, Geoff joined Nando’s as CEO of their Southern Africa operation, leading the repositioning of the brand into the fast-casual space. He was promoted to CEO for Nando’s Africa, Middle East and South Asia region in 2016, and in 2019 assumed additional responsibility for Nando’s Retail Grocery business and the company’s global ESG programme.

Geoff assumed the role of Group CEO and Executive Director of ADvTECH in March 2024. He is an active member of the South African business community and was a founding participant in the CEO Initiative established to avert a national credit rating downgrade.
