Donald Mokgale

Donald Mokgale is Avatar Media Agency’s Managing Director and a seasoned media expert who recently joined the Avatar team in June 2023 from Global group Dentsu where he was Group Business Director. He has extensive experience in the industry spanning over 16 years.

Prior to rejoining Dentsu as Group Business Director, Donald was the SSA Chief Executive Officer of Out There Media, a telco-driven mobile tech business which he led for two years growing its footprint into other African markets.

Prior to joining Out There Media, Donald led Carat Joburg as their Managing Director, driving its client and revenue growth including major wins like Vodacom among others. This was preceded by his leading Posterscope SSA, Dentsu’s specialist OOH agency. He also opened up the Ghana office and step-changed the Kenya and Nigeria offices before returning to SA shores to drive growth for the region.

After graduating from Boston Media House, he began his career at WideOpen Platform as a sales executive, selling large format OOH inventory to the media industry. This was followed by another sales role at Sebata Media focusing on community media solutions to the private sector to brands and agencies which is where he started his career before ultimately growing to agency leadership roles.
