The Marketing Achievement Awards is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Rob Collins.

Rob was a founding member of the Marketing Achievers Council and has made an invaluable contribution to the programme, being an avid supporter of what we are trying to accomplish and giving us much sage advice and pragmatic council over the years.

Rob was a force for good.  One of those special individuals who devote much of their time and energy to invest in others and the communities, causes, and initiatives they represent.
He will be sadly missed by many.

In a letter last night to the council, our chairperson Mohale Ralebitso, offered this tribute to Rob;

It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend Rob Collins.

I once addressed him as our “silverback” – for his experience, calmness, and willingness to influence rather than force things.  For all his many accomplishments, Rob was a humble and kind person. Never one to beat his drum – what you want in a giant and wish to be as you settle into yourself.

Rob had been in hospital for 8 days and passed on having suffered bleeding to the brain – a fine brain at that.

To our fallen friend and colleague, we say hamba kahle – go well.

To his family, we thank him for his service and dedication.
His camaraderie and easy way of being made us all feel happy to share, listen and ultimately, learn.

Death be not proud.

Rob is survived by his wife Pam, daughters Kirsty and Ash, son Matt, and his grandchildren.

On behalf of the council, fellow judges, and administrators of the Marketing Achievers, we convey our sincere condolences to the Collins family.

Rest in peace Rob – it was an honour and a privilege to work with you.
